Pie equinovaro congénito, valoración inicial y curso evolutivo con tratamiento de Ponseti, hospital Dr. Roberto Gilbert Elizalde, junta de beneficencia de Guayaquil

Introducción: El pie equinovaro congénito es una de las deformidades congénitas más comunes del sistema músculo-esquelético, su incidencia mundial varia del 1 al 3%, más frecuente en varones. En Ecuador, esta patología afecta principalmente a la clase de bajos recursos económicos, siendo estos los que presenten la mayor tasa de complicaciones sin un tratamiento temprano adecuado.Objetivo: Establecer casos de niños diagnosticados con Pie equinovaro congénito, numero de yesos que se necesitaron según gradación de Dimeglio y cuántos pacientes necesitaron corrección quirúrgica.Material y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, observacional, retrospectivo, de 150 pacientes con diagnóstico de pie equinovaro congénito atendidos en el Hospital Dr. Roberto Gilbert durante el periodo 2015-2017.Resultados: El diagnóstico oportuno, el tratamiento temprano y una valoración inicial adecuada del pie equinovaro congénito otorga buenos resultados, en comparación con los tratamientos quirúrgicos, una graduación adecuada según Dimeglio nos puede anticipar la duración y el curso del tratamiento con yesos.Conclusiones: Con el método Ponseti, aumenta las expectativas de éxito en el tratamiento de los pacientes diagnosticados con pie equinovaro congénito.
