Literacidad como fortalecimiento de la lengua náhuatl en la universidad: una acción necesaria hoy Resumen La literacidad y la escritura en náhuatl como competencias se hacen presentes en la universidad y hacen de esta lengua una lengua de conocimiento. Hoy la Universidad Veracruzana realiza acciones que ayudan al nahuahablante a que pueda estudiar, hablar, pensar y reflexionar en su lengua. Aquí analizamos estas acciones y cómo garantizan al nahuahablante que hable, escuche, escriba y lea en su lengua, así como también a apreciarla. Este estudio de caso examina la implementación de cuatro acciones: examen de evaluación de competencias lingüísticas, nueva titulación para profesionistas nahuahablantes, proyecto para elaborar publicaciones en náhuatl para la educación superior, y taller de paleografía para que expertos y estudiantes nahuas puedan leer textos nahuas antiguos y saber cómo su lengua y ellos eran. Todas ellas convergen en un trabajo que muestra la literacidad al estudiante nahua como una herramienta que le ayuda a ser experto en su cultura. Literacy as Empowerment of the Nahuatl Language at University: an Action to Take Now Abstract The literacy and writing in Nahuatl as competences are present in the University, which allow to this language to be as a language of knowledge. Today, the Universidad Veracruzana carries out actions to help the Nahua speaker to be able to study, talk, think and reflect on his/her language. Here, we analyze these actions and how to guarantee that the Nahua speaker talks, listens to, writes and reads in his/her language, as well as, to appreciate it. This case study examines the implementation of four actions: an evaluation exam about linguistic competences, a new degree program for Nahua speakers professionals, a project for developing publications in Nahuatl for higher education, and the paelography workshop so that experts and Nahua students can read old Nahua texts and know how their language and they used to be. All of them coincide in some work that shows the literacy to the Nahua student as a tool that lets him/her to be an expert in his/her culture.
