The Expression of Homonyms in The Vocabulary of Alisher Navoi's Epic “Saddi Iskandariy”

This article investigates one of the important issues of Uzbek linguistics: the lexical composition of Alisher Navoi's works, specifically the phenomenon of homonymy in the epic “Saddi Iskandari”. The emergence of homonyms as a result of polysemic development and the history of their study in Russian and Uzbek linguistics are briefly covered. In the study, examples taken from the text of the epic were compared with the explanatory dictionary of the Uzbek language and other fundamental sources. In particular, the features of homonymy and semantic layers of a number of lexemes actively used in the work are revealed. The article scientifically substantiates that homonyms in Alisher Navoi's epics are not just a play on words, but the most important linguistic and lyrical tool that deeply expresses the author's philosophical and aesthetic views, revealing the internal and multifaceted layers of meaning of the text.
