“The Song of a Suncarrier” by N. Klyuev as a Scythian Poem

The article attempts a hermeneutic analysis of the text of N. Klyuev’s “The Song of a Suncarrier” in the context of the ideology of the revolution formed among the Russian spiritual Scythians of the 1910’s. The poem is considered as Klyuev’s answer to the intelligentsia’s fears of the destructive power of the rebellious people. Klyuev opposed the thoughts about the death of culture with the belief in the creative possibilities of the people. The article offers an explanation of the mythologemes and tropes of the poem. In the allegories of “The Song of a Suncarrier” the poet expressed his understanding of the real situation in 1917, expressed his ideas about the social, aesthetic and ideological foundations of post-revolutionary Russia, the main of which is the brotherhood. As in other works of Klyuev, with the clear independence of Klyuev’s mindset in the poem, motives, that correlate with the content of the works, diary entries, letters of A. Bloсk, A. Bely, S. Esenin, E. Zamyatin, R. Ivanov-Razumnik, etc., are developed.
