A contribución quere suxerir unha reflexión preliminar sobre o papel dun enfoque de tipo sociolingüístico histórico aplicado á lírica medieval trobadoresca, especialmente no tocante á produción profana galego-portuguesa. Despois dunha introdución xeral, que ten o obxectivo de esbozar un panorama bibliográfico e teórico sobre o tema, proporase un exemplo concreto de análise efectuada segundo os principios da sociolingüística histórica, que se refire ao uso dos pronomes nas cantigas trobadorescas peninsulares.
