Social criticism in the play ‘Kamana’

जयशंकर प्रसाद ने सन् 1927 में ‘कामना’ नाटक को लिखा था। इस कामना नाटक को 3 अंकों और 22 दृश्ों में एक द्वीप की कथा के माध्यम से भारत की मातृभूलम को प्रतीकात्मक रूप में दशााया है। नाटक में मानलसक भावनाओं को पात्र के रूप में प्रयोग लकया गया है, जैसे-कामना, संतोष, लवनोद, लविास, लववेक, शांलतदेव, दम्भ, दुवृात्त, क्रूर, िीिा, िािसा, करुणा, प्रमदा, वनिक्ष्मी और महत्त्वाकांक्षा आलद को दशााया है। प्रबि होकर व्यक्ति और राष्ट्र की संस्कृलत और शांलत को नष्ट् करते हैं, यहााँ इस नाटक में संकेलतत है। लवदेशी युवक लविास के प्रभाव में आकर द्वीपवासी नशाखोरी,व्यलभचारी और सोने के िािच आकर भटक जाते हैं, इसका पररणाम यह होता है लक पूरे बुराई कमों में शालमि हो जाते हैं। द्वीपवासी भारत की मूि संस्कृलत और पाश्चात्य के रीलत-ररवाजों से आकलषात होकर पूरी तरह से लवदेशी संस्कृलत को अपनाने मजबूर होते है। आगे कािांतर में वास्तलवकता को जानकर अपनी संस्कृलत के महत्व और लवदेशी कुटनीलत का पता चिने के उपरांत लिर से द्वीप में पूरानी जीवन शैिी को स्वीकार कर िेते हैं।
