First person – Misato Shimoyama and Kumiko Nakada-Tsukui
View through CrossRef
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Misato Shimoyama and Kumiko Nakada-Tsukui are co-first authors on ‘ A RhoGEF activates RacM to selectively promote motility without affecting micropinocytosis in Entamoeba histolytica’, published in JCS. Misato conducted the research described in this article while a Master Student in Tomoyoshi Nozaki's lab in the Department of Biomedical Chemistry, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. She is now a PhD student in the lab of Jason King at the University of Sheffield, UK, where she is fascinated by cytoskeleton dynamics as well as signaling pathways during endocytosis. Kumiko conducted the research described in this article while a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Parasitology, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan Institute for Health Security. She is now an Associate Professor in Tomoyoshi Nozaki's lab, investigating molecular mechanisms of various forms of phagocytosis, particularly trogocytosis.
