An ecocritical approach to Ilhan Berk's poetry

View through CrossRef

When human beings engage in these actions within the natural order, a major problem arises that requires solutions, and solution proposals and research have revealed their impact in many different disciplines. One of these fields is ecocriticism. It is also possible to explore the traces of ecocriticism, often cited in discussions, across various disciplines and perspectives. One of these disciplines is undoubtedly literature. Literature, which offers profound insights into society, is one of the most effective methods for understanding human beings and their relationship with nature. Because the literary world contains many variables about the society in which it exists. The concept of ecocriticism, which emerged as a response to humanity's inappropriate interventions in the environment and sheds light on the nature-human relationship through literature, is one of the theories that can be applied in the interpretation of the poems by İlhan Berk, one of the İkinci Yeni poets. In the first part of our study, İlhan Berk's life and works; in the second part, the concept of ecocriticism and the theories that emerged with the development of ecocriticism; in the third part, İlhan Berk's approach to nature in his poems will be examined within the framework of ecocriticism and various ecocritical theories.
