Ilija Nikolić's collection and collection of materials Pirot and Nišava district

In 1981-82, Ilija Nikolić published a collection of documents "Pirot and Nišava district: 1801-1918: materials". Copies of the documents on the basis of which he prepared the book are kept in the Historical Archive of Pirot and Ilija Nikolić himself named them the Collection of Ilija Nikolić. The author researched this book to get acquainted with the documents which were not included in the book. It was noticed that in the Collection, as well as in the book, there is a predominance of educational documents and insufficiency of documents from other areas of life. In addition, Nikolić was inclined to exclude or supress documents which pointed to some deeper social contradictions or anomalies and were not in accordance with prevailing consciousness and stereotypes.
