En este trabajo se discutirán algunas de las relaciones entre el medio ambiente y la cultura en el área de las tierras bajas mayas. Vamos a tratar de responder a las siguientes preguntas: 1. ¿Cuáles son los patrones de interacción entre el medio ambiente y el sistema de subsistencia? 2. ¿De qué manera es este último está relacionado con la historia de la población y los patrones de asentamiento? 3. ¿Qué relación existe entre el sistema de subsistencia y el nacimiento y la decadencia de la civilización Maya?
