Vedic Mathematics: Contribution to Accelerate Basic Mathematical Operations

In contrast to other methods, the method described in this paper—called "Vedic Mathematics" —is designed to be faster and is based on mathematical concepts that have been around for a very long time. The traditional method of Indian mathematics is called Vedic mathematics. The name "Vedic mathematics" refers to the prehistoric Indian mathematical system that was uncovered in the early twentieth century from prehistoric Indian sculptures (Vedas). It focuses mostly on Vedic mathematical formulas and how they are used to different areas of mathematics. There are 16 Sutras (formulae) and 13 sub-Sutras (sub formulae) in Vedic Mathematics. The Sutras are simple to comprehend, apply, and recall. Even for intricate problems requiring a significant number of mathematical operations, the time required using the Vedic method will be significantly less than that of using contemporary Western methods. Vedic Mathematics is an ancient Indian method of mathematical computations or operations techniques that was developed in 1957. For mathematical computations done mentally, Vedic mathematics is proven to be highly reliable and efficient. Beautiful and striking tricks for quick and simple mathematical calculations can be found in sutras and sub sutras. Compared to the traditional system, Vedic Math offers more systematic, unified, simplified, and quick results. This paper offers an overview of some important sutras from Vedic mathematics using examples. We also provide an overview of a few recent applications of Vedic mathematics that have been reported in the literature.
