Anglicans

The Anglican churches of the world are named for their connection to the Church of England. In North America, three Anglican denominations are recognized members of the communion: The Episcopal Church (TEC), the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC), and the Anglican Church of Bermuda (ACB). REC was created by a secession in 1973 of Episcopal and Canadian Anglican parishes and was bolstered by Black congregations. The ACNA was created in 2009 by Anglican traditionalists in protest to perceived liberalism of the TEC and ACC. Anglicanism in North American contexts is comprised primarily by Evangelicals, Anglican Catholics, Charismatic Anglicans, and Progressives. Constituents in North American Anglicanism are ageing and Anglicans across its denominations must reckon with its views on systemic injustice.
