Implications and Conclusions

View through CrossRef
This chapter reviews the role of reputation in conflict and cooperation, and discusses potential extensions of the reputation model and applications. It reviews the lessons learned in previous chapters, and considers these questions: should scholars renews their focus on reputation as a causative factor in political behavior? And, do state leaders learn fromthe actions of other state leaders? Extensions includes a focus on non-state actors, both in cooperative and conflictual contexts. Finally, the chapter addresses policy implications of reputation and learning. Ultimately, this researchsuggests that shiftingperceptions inpolicy-making from aggressive strength to crisis competence can lead to greater peace and security in the international system.
