An unusual mistake that very few Londoners have ever noticed - or even know about, although hundreds of thousands pass by daily - was made in the statue of Oliver Cromwell erected outside Westminster Hall. The spurs on the Protector's square toed riding boots are fitted upside down! The statue was the work of Sir William Hamo Thornycroft, sculptor of many famous London statues, and was erected in 1897._x000D_
