The management of Nigeria’s elections, institutional fiascos and dubiety of political gladiators in Nigeria since 1999

This paper explores the management of Nigeria's elections since 1999, focusing on institutional failures and the questionable actions of political leaders. It aims to answer critical research questions regarding the effectiveness of electoral management bodies, the influence of political elites on electoral integrity, and the implications of these factors on democratic processes. The research objectives include assessing the performance of electoral institutions, analyzing the role of political gladiators in shaping electoral outcomes, and identifying factors contributing to electoral malpractices. Utilizing qualitative methods, the study relies on secondary data collection,including reports, articles, and previous research findings to provide a comprehensive understanding of the electoral landscape. A literature review highlights the historical context of Nigeria's electoral processes, examining previous challenges and reforms.
