Silicone arthroplasty in the proximal interphalangeal joint silicone for post-traumatic and wound of the hand: A report of 2 cases

View through CrossRef
Damages of the proximal interphalangeal joint after hand trauma and injuries are common. This results in joint deformity and loss of motion. Arthroplasty in the proximal interphalangeal joint is a method that allows us to restore the range of motion and improves the deformity of the joint. In this study, the authors reported 2 cases in which the joint became deformity and loss of motion of the proximal interphalangeal joint post-traumatic of the hand, which undergone silicone arthroplasty of the proximal interphalangeal joint, with 1 year follow-up time. The range of flexion has increased from 40-110o and 0-105o, respectively. The postoperative QuickDAHS score was 4 and 5. Arthroplasty is an option to improve the range of motion and finger shape in post-traumatic proximal interphalangeal joint deformity and loss of motion.
