Målning av Kampenhofområdet, Uddevalla, 1858

Photograph of an oil painting by artist Carl Fredrik Richter (1806-1883). The painting in unknown ownership, photographed by photographer Maria Lundbäck. The motif depicts the area around Kampenhof’s factory in Uddevalla with the turning basin for the wheel steamer UDDEWALLA and a timber yard in the foreground. This is very likely to be the painting that Bohus läns Tidning, 2 September 1858, describes in his review of the Bohusläns Konstförening’s exhibition in the Town Hall: “- - -Hr Richter, who äfwen had a faithful painting of the northern harbour street with Kampenhofs Fabrik and the steamboat Uddewalla.” The painting is also mentioned in the list of profits from the exhibition lottery on 27 December of the same year: "11. Richter: Kampenhof, in oil (organist J. D. Dahlin). Dahlin was the winner of the board. The photo published in Fredjö 1972, see below. The same motif as UMFA53086: 0676 and UMFA53086: 0677.
