Characterising the role of neuropilin-1 in claudin-low breast cancer

Due to a lack of identified targeted therapies, chemotherapy remains the major treatment option available for patients diagnosed with aggressive claudin-low breast cancer. The cell-surface protein, Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) is highly elevated in these tumours, and therefore this thesis investigated the role of NRP1 in claudin-low breast cancer progression. By performing RNA-sequencing and protein microarrays following NRP1 knockdown and inhibition in claudin-low cell lines, this thesis revealed the multifaceted function of NRP1 in regulating various cell-signalling pathways; implicating NRP1 as a potential therapeutic target against claudin-low breast cancer.
