The Early Tintinnabuli Works

Abstract
The name ‘tintinnabuli’ was eventually adopted as the collective title for all seven of the 1976 works. A 1978 programme lists their concert order as: In the 1978 Tallinn Festival of Old and New Music they formed the first half of a concert the second half of which was a performance (using voices and instruments) of Dufay’s il1issa L ‘Homme Arme by Hortus Musicus. Although some of these pieces have subsequently been modified in various ways, they have all survived the composer’s later scrutiny and been recorded in one context or another.
