A Study on Busan Dialects and Busan Culture Education

View through CrossRef
The purpose of this study is to identify the language culture that appeared in the Busan dialect and to find a way to use it for cultural education in the Busan dialect. Until now, the cultural contents that appeared in the Busan dialect were limited to some items such as idioms and kinship words, making it difficult to deal with the overall cultural phenomena that appeared in the Busan dialect. Because of this, it was difficult for local language speakers to accurately recognize their identity in their language due to the lack of awareness of the Busan dialect and culture. The Busan dialect reflects more of the attributes of the culture of relative consideration, collective harmony, and organic totalitarianism in the Korean language than in other languages. This is because Busan has stronger collective cohesion and connection than other regions, and is also linked to regional conservatism. Along with this, efficiency based on commerciality, a regional characteristic of Busan, appears as linguistic simplicity. These cultural characteristics can be confirmed throughout the Busan dialect. From this point of view, it was confirmed that the Busan dialect textbook made by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is difficult to understand the identity of the Busan dialect and contains only existing fragmentary knowledge. In particular, a new Busan dialect textbook is urgently requested because various error information can cause misunderstanding among students. Accordingly, the new Busan dialect education was divided into phonology, grammar, vocabulary, and discourse expressions to present the characteristics and cultural contents of the Busan dialect. These contents can help establish the identity of the Busan dialect by making it recognized as having regional characteristics based on the general cultural contents of the Korean language.

Title: A Study on Busan Dialects and Busan Culture Education
