Epilogue

View through CrossRef
This epilogue begins by looking at the end of the Pan-African e-Network Project (PAN) in 2017 and the subsequent implementation of the e-VidyaBharti (“Indian tele-education”) and e-AarogyaBharti (“Indian telemedicine”) Network Project. What is presented as the “second phase” or a “technological extension” of PAN similarly offers continuing medical education and medical teleconsultations—although more importance seems to be given to the tele-education component of the network, which offers higher-education programs. The epilogue then reflects on the conceptual and practical issues raised by PAN. It considers how the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the expansion of digital medicine while breathing new life into its past promises. The epilogue also discusses how the past decade has witnessed many instances that brought critical attention to the global racial imaginaries that shape South-South cooperation, Indo-Africa encounters in particular. Finally, it examines how the past decade has also witnessed the rise to power of Hindu nationalists in India.
