Egyptian mummy case or coffin
View through Europeana Collections
This large sheet of paper contains five lines of hieroglyphic inscriptions copied from a mummy case found in Thebes in 1835. Below the hieroglyphics is an English translation. They are dedicatory inscriptions to Osiris and other gods by a person whose name in the original has been defaced, apparently a priestess for whom the mummy case was made originally. The identity of the later mummy was established from the inscription on the scarab.
