Recent Anglican and Protestant Theology

View through CrossRef
Abstract Anglican and Protestant traditions are recipients of the ecumenical achievements of the twentieth century. This has borne fruit in the interest in doctrines of deification. Across denominational lines, doctrines of deification are being constructed in ways that remain faithful to the central defining dogmas and practices of each tradition. A new generation of scholars are now publishing significant works of constructive theology in which deification finds a central place. More work is yet to be done, and the ecumenical potential of deification is yet to be fully realized, but the signs are healthy. Lutheran, Reformed, Anglican, Wesleyan, Pentecostal, Baptist, and Anabaptist voices are brought to the fore in a survey of representative theologians of deification in these various Christian traditions since the middle of the twentieth century.
